A Bit About My Approach

Guiding You On the Path of Self-Healing

Is your story keeping you stuck?

Let me help...

Using a number of integrative approaches, I help clients move closer to their purpose and potential - freeing them from unhelpful narratives and behaviours. With over 15 years of experience in education and counselling, I use a warm, client-centered approach, which allows us to explore the root causes of your problems - not just the symptoms.

I am trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy for individuals, Relational Psychoanalysis, Attachment-Focused Therapy as well as in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I would love to help you on your healing journey. I specialize in working with GEN Z women, teens, young adults, as well as adult children of alcoholics who are struggling with a range of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and more.

Please reach out to book a free 15-minute phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit.

Who am I?

Hi! I am Delanie. When I am not working with clients, you can find me hiking the Bruce Trail with my spunky pup, Ruby, reading, skiing or spending time with my two kids and partner.

I also love traveling, long conversations with good friends, hot coffee, and time outside.

I have always been interested in what makes people tick; asking questions and getting curious is where I find my joy.

Learning new things, meeting new people, and traveling to new places is what I love most.

Current guilty pleasure: Reality TV

I am excited to get to know more about you!

Education and Background

I received my Bachelor's degree in Political Science from McMaster University in 2007. Soon after, I decided to return to school to chase my dream of being an educator and completed my Bachelor of Education and Master of Education at York University. This ignited my interest and family systems and how they interact with schools in the realm of special education. After working in the school system as a teacher and guidance counsellor for nearly 15 years, I decided to explore another area I had always been passionate about. I loved this chapter of my life dearly but began to feel it was time for a change.

In 2018, I began my Master of Counselling Psychology and in 2021 I opened up my private practice. Since then I have been trained by Dr. Leslie Greenberg in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)  at York University (levels 1-3), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for PTSD, and most recently in Internal Family Sytems (IFS) through IFSCA. Learning new approaches to help support my clients is something I am committed to.
